FULL TERMS & CONDITIONS
By booking car hire with First Ride Driving School, the student agrees to the following terms and conditions:
1. Driving Test Vehicle Use
The vehicle is provided for the purpose of attending a driving test only.
During the driving test, no authorised instructor from First Ride Driving School will be present in the vehicle. The vehicle will be occupied by the testing officer/examiner and the student only, unless otherwise required by law or the testing authority.
2. Student Responsibility
The student is responsible for the vehicle while it is under their control during the driving test period.
If any damage, accident, loss, fine, penalty, traffic offence, toll, parking infringement, or other cost occurs while the vehicle is under the student’s control, the student may be responsible for the cost, subject to applicable law and insurance conditions.
3. Safe and Lawful Driving
The student agrees to:
- Follow all road rules and testing officer instructions
- Drive safely and responsibly
- Not drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that may affect driving ability
- Immediately report any accident, incident, warning light, damage, or issue involving the vehicle
4. Vehicle Policies
The student agrees to follow all vehicle hire, car hire, and driving test vehicle policies of First Ride Driving School.
Failure to follow these policies may result in additional charges, refusal of future service, or other action reasonably required by First Ride Driving School.
5. Damage, Insurance Excess, and Charges
If the vehicle is damaged during the test period, First Ride Driving School may assess the damage and may claim repair costs, insurance excess, cleaning costs, towing costs, or other reasonable costs connected with the incident.
Insurance may not cover every situation, especially if the vehicle is used unlawfully, negligently, or against these terms and conditions.
6. Booking Confirmation
By completing the booking, the student confirms that:
- They have read and understood these terms and conditions
- They agree to follow all car hire requirements
- They hold a valid driver licence or learner licence required for the driving test
- All information provided during booking is true and correct
7. Photo and Social Media Consent
If the student passes the driving test, First Ride Driving School may ask to take a passing photo or video for business promotion and student success updates.
Where the student agrees, First Ride Driving School may use the passing photo, video, first name, test result, and success message on its website, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Google Business Profile, YouTube, WhatsApp, online advertising, printed materials, and other marketing platforms used by First Ride Driving School.
This consent is given when the student ticks the photo and social media consent checkbox during booking or otherwise confirms consent in writing.
8. Cancellation and Rescheduling
Students must provide reasonable notice if they wish to cancel or reschedule a car hire booking. Short-notice cancellations or changes may result in fees being charged or the booking fee being forfeited, depending on the circumstances and notice provided.
If the student changes their driving test date, time, or test centre, they must inform First Ride Driving School as soon as possible. Any rescheduled booking will be subject to vehicle and instructor availability.
9. Service NSW Test Changes or Cancellation
First Ride Driving School is not responsible for driving tests cancelled, postponed, delayed, or interrupted by Service NSW, testing officers, weather conditions, system failures, public holidays, centre closures, or any other circumstances outside the control of First Ride Driving School.
Where possible, First Ride Driving School will try to assist with rescheduling the car hire booking, subject to availability. Additional charges may apply depending on the circumstances.
10. Licence and Eligibility Requirements
The student must hold a valid and current licence or learner licence and must meet all eligibility requirements to attend the driving test.
The student is responsible for bringing all required documents, licence cards, logbook, test booking details, and any other documents required by Service NSW or the testing authority.
If the student is unable to sit the test because they forgot their licence, do not meet eligibility requirements, are late, provide incorrect information, or fail to bring required documents, First Ride Driving School will not be responsible, and applicable fees may still be payable.
11. Vehicle Availability and Replacement Vehicle
First Ride Driving School will make reasonable efforts to provide the booked vehicle for the driving test. However, if the vehicle becomes unavailable due to breakdown, accident, maintenance, safety concerns, or any unforeseen circumstances, First Ride Driving School may provide a suitable replacement vehicle, reschedule the booking, or offer another reasonable solution.
First Ride Driving School will not be liable for losses caused by vehicle unavailability where the issue is outside reasonable control.
12. Safety and Fitness to Drive
First Ride Driving School reserves the right to refuse car hire if the student appears unsafe, unfit to drive, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, medically unfit, aggressive, abusive, not legally eligible, or otherwise unsuitable to undertake the driving test.
If car hire is refused for safety, legal, or eligibility reasons, fees may be forfeited where permitted by law.
13. Payment and Outstanding Amounts
All applicable booking fees, car hire fees, and related charges must be paid in accordance with the booking requirements of First Ride Driving School.
Any unpaid amount, outstanding balance, damage cost, insurance excess, toll, fine, penalty, cleaning charge, or other approved charge remains payable by the student after the booking if applicable.
14. No Guarantee of Test Result
Booking a vehicle through First Ride Driving School does not guarantee that the student will pass the driving test.
The driving test result is determined solely by the student’s driving performance and the assessment of the testing officer or examiner.
15. Late Arrival and No Show
Students must arrive at the agreed meeting location on time and be ready to proceed with the booking.
If a student is late, First Ride Driving School will make reasonable efforts to continue the booking where possible. However, delays may reduce available lesson or test preparation time and may affect the booking.
If the student fails to attend the agreed meeting location, cannot be contacted, arrives too late to complete the booking, or otherwise does not attend the booking, the booking may be treated as a no-show and applicable fees may be forfeited.
16. Acceptance of Terms
By ticking the agreement checkbox and completing the booking, the student accepts these Car Hire for Driving Test Terms & Conditions.
